Small plane makes emergency landing on Cal State Northridge field

The pilot of a small airplane made an emergency landing on the Cal State Northridge campus Sunday afternoon, fire officials reported.
The aircraft, described by officials as a six-seater, single-engine plane, had two people aboard when it landed on a university athletic field about 3 p.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the L.A. Fire Department.
The plane reportedly could not stop before reaching the end of the field and crashed through a fence near the intersection of Plummer Street and Zelzah Avenue, Humphrey said.
The pilot and passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and were being transported to a hospital in fair condition, Humphrey said. No one on the ground was injured.
The cause of the emergency landing will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
