Opinion: Should illegal immigrants be able to obtain driver’s licenses?

Last week, editorial board member Karin Klein was rear-ended by an illegal immigrant, Jorge, with no driver’s license. (The vehicle, however, had insurance.) Today, she argues that the accident may never have happened were Jorge able to receive training, and therefore a license, that would have better prepared him for the road. Illegal immigrants, she says, should be able to get driver’s licenses, which, in turn, would create safer roads. Read Him, unlicensed; me, unlucky.
