Baseball: National Classic home-run derby set for this afternoon

Everyone appreciates a long home run. I like ‘em in bunches.

That’s why I’m grabbing my two little boys and heading over to El Dorado High this afternoon for the annual home-run derby that kicks off the National Classic baseball tournament. The games are scheduled to begin Monday at four locations in Orange County.

I don’t know a whole lot about the out-of-towners, but I expect Yucaipa junior Matt Davidson to put on a show. Here’s a little write-up on Davidson from a couple years ago.
