BOYS
The North Division contenders are down to two after Oak Park and Palos Verdes won semifinal games Monday at Beverly Hills.
Oak Park won a marathon in the opening game, as Brett Zeolla tallied in the fifth overtime to give the Eagles a 6-5 win over Chaminade. In the nightcap, top-seeded Palos Verdes had an easier time against Loyola, posting a 14-6 victory over the Cubs.
The Eagles and the Sea Kings do battle Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Mira Costa, with the winner facing Orange County champion Foothill Friday at 7 p.m. at Trabuco Hills.
GIRLS
In Orange County, the lower-seeded visitors won both semifinals, as St. Margaret’s defeated top-seeded Beckman 13-9 and Los Alamitos defeated Foothill 14-9. The Tartans and the Griffins will face off Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Trabuco Hills for the Orange County championship. The two teams split their regular-season meetings.
In the Bay League, top-seeded Palos Verdes defeated Redondo 13-7 and Mira Costa edged Peninsula 17-16 in double overtime. The Sea Kings will look for their third victory in as many meetings with the Mustangs in Wednesday’s final, at 5 p.m at Mira Costa. The winner of that game will face the Orange County champion Friday at 5 p.m. at Trabuco Hills.
