Alex Carmon stepped up with a couple of baskets to help Long Beach Poly take a 16-9 lead over Etiwanda after the first quarter of their Division I quarterfinal playoff game at Long Beach City College.

Every possession is a battle in what figures to be a 32-minute defensive struggle. What’s encouraging for the Jackrabbits is that Roschon Prince made all four of his free throws. Byron Wesley has scored six points for Etiwanda. Ryan Andeson has two fouls for Poly.
