Special teams and kicking, in particular, have not been strengths among teams in the City Section, but perhaps that’s changing.
El Camino Real kicker Ericson Penate has twice won games this season with last-second field goals.
And South East sophomore kicker Larry Sanchez made a 43-yard field goal on Friday against Los Angeles.
The City Section is known for its strong soccer programs, so there’s no reason football coaches shouldn’t be able to recruit some decent kickers off the soccer teams.
