If Cleveland knocks off Birmingham in a 6:30 p.m. West Valley League finale on Thursday night, Saturday’s City Section Division I seeding meeting should go pretty smoothly.
Cleveland would be the No. 1 seed, with San Fernando No. 2, Chatsworth No. 3 and Banning No. 4. Then things will get interesting.
Narbonne and Granada Hills have been two of the hottest teams of late, but Granada Hills Kennedy owns a win over Granada Hills. If Granada Hills sweeps El Camino Real this week, the Highlanders will be in the top six seeds and enter the playoffs with a seven-game winning streak and lots of pitching.
Wild-card games are set for May 15 and the first round isn’t until May 22. The championship game is June 1 at Dodger Stadium.
That’s a lot of time off, and it will be interesting to see how coaches try to keep their teams in top form.
