Cathedral 75, Chaminade 60
Cathedral High made good on its first seven shots in the third quarter to open a 12-point lead as the Phantoms downed Chaminade, 75-60, at Cathedral. It was the second Santa Fe League game for both teams.
The Phantoms (9-4, 2-0) were 14 of 38 from the field in the first half but made up for it by hitting 18 of 28 in the second half.
“They just shot the lights out,” Chaminade Coach Mike Lynn said.
When Cathedral went ahead by 12 in the third quarter, Chaminade (4-8, 1-1) switched to a man-to-man defense and closed to within six on three straight baskets by Jeff Gehl. But Cathedral came right back with six points to lead, 52-40, going into the fourth quarter.
