Chapman Out-Shoots Cal Poly Pomona, 70-53

Leone Patterson’s 15 points and 10 rebounds paced Chapman College’s No. 1-ranked women’s basketball team to a 70-53 California Collegiate Athletic Assn. win over Cal Poly Pomona Thursday night at Chapman.
The game was tied at halftime, but the Panthers outscored the Broncos, 40-23, in the second half. The Panthers shot 55% from the field in the last 20 minutes to Pomona’s 25%. The Panthers’ 59.5% from the field was its best of the season.
Chapman’s Susan Bergendahl and Tammy Gordon also scored in double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively. Pomona’s Janine Phillips led both teams with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Chapman is 3-0, 14-2. The 11th-ranked Broncos are 1-1, 10-7. The Panthers have won 17 straight conference games at home.
