Lawndale : Parents of Abandoned Newborn Girl Sought
- Share via
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are still searching for the parents of a newborn baby found abandoned at a local grocery store.
Detective Howard Curtis said that investigators had no strong leads to work with in their hunt for the infant’s parents. No identification or note accompanied the baby, who was dressed in a blue jogging suit, he said.
The female infant, believed to be less than a day old when discovered Sunday by a newspaper deliveryman outside the Happy Market at 4701 W. Compton Blvd., was reported in stable condition at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. When the child is in good condition, she will be placed in the custody of the county Department of Public Social Services, according to a hospital spokesman.
