University of San Diego to Face Gonzaga

The University of San Diego will try to even its West Coast Athletic Conference record when the Toreros (11-5, 0-1) face Gonzaga University at 7:30 tonight in Kennedy Pavilion at Spokane, Wash.
USD, which lost to Pepperdine, 60-50, in its opener last Saturday, is led by 6-foot 7-inch senior forward Anthony Reuss (12.7 points per game). Sophomore center Scott Thompson (6-11) and junior guard Kiki Jackson (6-1) are each averaging 11.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs (11-5, 1-1) lost their WCAC opener to the University of Santa Clara, 68-60, in overtime, but beat St. Mary’s College, 57-55. Senior forward Brian McPhee, who scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds against St. Mary’s, leads the Bulldogs in scoring with a 16.9 average. Tim Ruff, a 6-10 center, leads Gonzaga in rebounding with a 7.3 average.
The Bulldogs are 9-1 at home and the Toreros are 1-3 on the road. The Toreros will play the University of Portland (10-7, 0-2) on Saturday at Portland.
