Spring Valley Golfer Shoots 64 to Tie Record

Bill Barrett of Spring Valley tied a course record by shooting an eight-under-par 64 Thursday to win the third and final tournament of the fifth annual California Winter Golf Tour at Shadowridge Country Club in Vista.
Barrett’s record-tying performance gave him a three-day total of 199 and the first-place prize of $4,000. One shot behind Barrett was Ernie Gonzalez of Chula Vista, who won $3,000 for his three-day total of 200. Jim Tutledge of Victoria, B.C., finished third at 202 and won $2,500.
