A Humane Society lawsuit seeking to halt research on dogs and cats at the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Palo Alto was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Stanley Weigel, who said the society did not have the legal standing to bring the suit. Three chapters of the society said they wanted the research stopped until conditions for the animals improved. The judge also said that the issue was moot because post-surgical conditions were now better, according to a spokesman for the center.
