Patterson Named Conference MVP

Chapman College’s Leone Patterson, a 6-foot junior forward, has been selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Assn.’s Most Valuable Player for the 1984-85 season by the conference’s coaches.

Patterson led the Panthers, the second-ranked women’s basketball team in NCAA Division 2, in scoring (13.3 points per game), free throw percentage (.721) and assists (3.7 per game).

Chapman (25-3) also placed 6-4 senior center Delisa Carter on the CCAA first team. Carter led the Panthers in rebounding (9.2 a game), blocked shots (104), steals (74) and field goal percentage (.570).

Chapman, the CCAA co-champion, will play host to the Western Regional finals at the Hutton Sports Center on March 12. The Panthers, who got a bye in the first round, will face the winner of the Cal Poly Pomona-San Francisco State game to be played Saturday.
