A May 20 trial date has been set for an unemployed construction worker accused of raping a woman whose car broke down on a freeway Jan. 21. Nathan Hood, 31, who lives on National Avenue in San Diego, is accused of kidnaping, raping and attempting to rob a 27-year-old secretary after her car stopped near an on-ramp to California 94. He then took her back to the car and helped her start it, she told police. The woman told reporters 10 law enforcement cars passed her stalled car, but none stopped. All San Diego policemen have since been required to offer assistance to all stranded motorists.
