George W. Douglas announced that he is resigning as a member of the Federal Trade Commission effective in mid-September.
Douglas, 46, whose term on the commission extends until 1989, did not announce a reason for his decision to leave or disclose his plans.
He said he was announcing the departure six months in advance to give President Reagan time to name a successor. Douglas, a Democrat, was appointed to the FTC by Reagan in 1982. Before joining the agency, he was president of Southwest Econometrics Inc., an Austin, Tex., private economic research firm he founded in 1976.
