State Suit Demands L.A. Chemical Firm Clean Up Its Site

A suit demanding that Neville Chemical Co. clean up its site in Santa Fe Springs has been filed by state agencies in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The Department of Health Services said improper practices at the company’s 12800 East Imperial Highway site have resulted in the release of hazardous substances that pose an “imminent and substantial” danger to public health. The substances include cleaning solvents and combustion byproducts known as dioxins and furans.
Neville said the reported high level of contamination was the result of faulty laboratory analysis of soil samples.
