‘Police Accused of Brutality’

The police treatment of Guido Rodriguez Jr. really upset me. I am amazed that officers of the Irvine Police Department would go to the point of causing bodily injury to this young man under the guise of suspecting him of stealing a bike.
Despite the fact that my father-in-law was a Los Angeles deputy sheriff for more than a decade, I myself make every attempt to avoid contact with police officers. No, I have never been arrested or received a ticket. I have, however, witnessed police harassment of others.
As the mother of two young children, it is very difficult to represent police officers as caring people when my own blood pressure rises at the sight of one.
