Bourdet Named to Athletic Directors’ Hall of Fame

SAN DIEGO — Gene Bourdet, athletic director at San Diego State from 1979-83, has been named to the National Assn. of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Hall of Fame. Induction ceremonies will be held June 10 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Bourdet has been involved in college athletics since 1956, when he was named track coach at Montana State. He was the director of athletics at Montana State from 1957-70, named executive director of the Aztec Club at SDSU in 1970, and he became director of athletics at Fresno State in 1971.
He resigned as athletic director at SDSU for health reasons on Aug. 15, 1983. Bourdet, who is a special assistant to SDSU President Thomas B. Day, will retire next month.
