San Diego area grocery prices, driven largely by higher prices for fresh produce, rose 0.6% in April, after two consecutive months of decline, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. Bureau officials said grocery prices in the San Diego area rose 0.9% during the first quarter of the year, compared to a 3.2% increase reported a year ago.

Bureau officials said higher motor fuel costs caused the bureau’s energy index to rise by 3.6% in April and 2.4% in March.
