A small earthquake rattled the Palm Springs area, but there were no reports of injuries or damage, authorities said. The temblor, measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale, hit at 8:50 a.m. and was centered in the White Water area, about 10 miles north of downtown Palm Springs, said Lloyd Darrington of the state Office of Emergency Services in Sacramento.
