Artificial heart recipient William J. Schroeder is gaining movement in his right hand and attempting to speak as he recovers from a recent stroke, a hospital spokeswoman said in Louisville, Ky. Schroeder, 53, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and stroke and was returned to Humana Hospital Audubon on May 6 after spending 30 days in a nearby apartment.
