Lynwood Coach Bill Notley and Harry Taylor, former coach at Long Beach Wilson, are the finalists for the varsity basketball coaching position at Trabuco Hills High School, Dr. Bill Brand, the school’s principal, said Wednesday.
Brand said he has recommended Notley and Taylor to Ken Anderson, associate superintendent of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. Anderson will interview both candidates this week and decide which one will be recommended to the district board of trustees at its meeting on June 27, Brand said.
Brand said he hopes to have all varsity coaching positions finalized by the conclusion of that board meeting.
“We hope to run summer programs in all of the sports so that we’re not too far behind when we open next fall,” he said.
Don Munsell, an assistant at Huntington Beach, has been recommended by Brand to become the school’s varsity baseball coach. Jim Barnett, who has coached at Long Beach Poly for the past five seasons, was named the Trabuco Hills football coach in March.
Trabuco Hills, Orange County’s newest high school, will open in September with an enrollment of approximately 800 in grades 9, 10 and 11.
