Shareholders Back ABC Merger

NEW YORK — Shareholders of both American Broadcasting Cos. and Capital Cities Communications Inc. voted overwhelmingly today in favor of the $3.5-billion merger of the two broadcasters.
The merger, which also requires the approval of the Federal Communications Commission, is expected to be completed early in 1986. It would create a company called Capital Cities-ABC Inc.
