Burbank Fire Closes Businesses, On-Ramp

Fire engulfed a metal-finishing plant in a Burbank industrial area Monday, forcing two other businesses and a freeway on-ramp to close, authorities said.
The blaze, at the Barron Anodizing Co. in the 2800 block of San Fernando Road, broke out about 4 a.m. and took nine companies of firefighters nearly three hours to extinguish, Burbank Fire Capt. Bill Saunders said.
Authorities, fearing the effect of burning chemicals, closed the southbound on-ramp to the Golden State Freeway from Buena Vista Street and sealed off a two-block area near the plant, Saunders said. The on-ramp remained closed until mid-afternoon, he said.
The fire forced two neighboring businesses to close for the day, Saunders said.
