China Denies It Will Supply Arms to Iran

PEKING — China’s leaders say they do not intend to supply arms to Iran, Turkish Prime Minister Turgut Ozal told a news conference in Peking’s Great Hall of the People Tuesday.
“They have told me they have no intention to supply arms,” he said in reply to Western diplomats’ belief that Hashemi Rafsanjani, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, had come to China to seek weapons for Iran’s war with Iraq. Rafsanjani had also denied that he was seeking arms.
