A 43-year-old mother of eight was arrested after allegedly slicing her young son’s hand to the bone during an argument, police said. Iona Gaddy was booked into Sybil Brand Institute for Women on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. She and was being held in lieu of $2,000 bail, Officer Gary Weinmann said. Gaddy was arrested at her South Los Angeles home after paramedics were called to treat her 9-year-old son, Michael, who suffered a severed tendon and bone fracture in his left hand during the knife attack, Weinmann said. He was treated at County-USC Medical Center and was listed in good condition. Gaddy apparently became upset when her son, who had been playing in the neighborhood, did not come home for six hours, Weinmann said.
