Reagan Tiptoes Around Barnyard Term in Speech

WASHINGTON — President Reagan used a lot of verbiage to suggest a barnyard term in his speech Monday to the American Bar Assn.
Taking a swipe at the Soviet Union for suggesting that the United States was looking for a “pretext” to invade Lebanon during the 16-day TWA hostage ordeal, Reagan said:
“Now, ladies and gentlemen of the American bar, there is a non-Soviet word for that kind of talk, an extremely useful, time-tested, original American word, one with deep roots in our rich agricultural and farming tradition.”
