Police Sgt. Suzie Cox is the first woman in the department’s history to be appointed an acting lieutenant, Chief Joseph Rouzan said.
Rouzan, who appointed Cox this week, said she will be a watch commander in the patrol division until the next lieutenant’s examination, which has not been scheduled.
Cox, 43, joined the department in 1966 and has been a sergeant since 1975.
