CHICAGO — Dodgers outfielder Pedro Guerrero was discharged from Northwestern Memorial Hospital today after being examined for back spasms.
Guerrero, the National League player of the month for June, suffered the spasms during the Dodgers’ game with Pittsburgh Wednesday night when he hit his 21st homer of the season in the fifth inning of the 5-4 win over the Pirates. Dodger manager Tommy Lasorda said Guerrero was set to come to the ballpark this morning but had trouble getting up. “He couldn’t even get up so we took him to the hospital,” Lasorda said.
