The Laguna Hills company, which specializes in medical software, has acquired Insurance Rating Dynamics of Arkansas for $1 million in cash. The purchase of IRD, a service bureau that sells software to insurance firms in five southern states, will double the size of Sumware, said Sumware President and Chief Executive Rowland W. Day. The combined companies had about $2 million in sales last year and Day said revenue could hit $5 million for the company’s 1986 fiscal year. Day added that IRD will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumware and will retain its name and the 13 employees on staff in Little Rock.
