LAS VEGAS — Heavy rains swamped the Las Vegas area today, flooding streets and leaving more than a foot of water on sections of Interstate 15. No flooding was reported on the Las Vegas Strip.
Numerous cars stalled in low-lying streets throughout the city as drivers tried to make it through water more than two feet deep. National Weather Service spokesman Frank Taylor said storms from eastern California and northwest Arizona would continue to sweep into the city until late evening.
