House Panel Rejects Hansen Recount Plea

WASHINGTON — The House Administration Committee has accepted a task force recommendation and voted 12 to 1 to dismiss former Rep. George Hansen’s plea for a recount in his election loss last November to Rep. Richard H. Stallings (D-Ida.), a committee aide said Thursday.
Hansen, a Republican who was convicted last year of filing false financial disclosure statements, was defeated by Stallings in the general election by 133 votes out of 202,399 cast.
