King Wins Motorcycle Main Event

Lance King of Fountain Valley edged three riders Friday night to win the scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program before 6,753 in the Orange County Fairgrounds at Costa Mesa.
King defeated Steve Lucero of Riverside, Sam Ermolenko of Cypress and Alan Christian of Huntington Beach.
In the handicap main event, Ermolenko defeated Denny Scopelitte of Huntington Beach, Christian, Tony Briggs of Dana Point, Lucero and Greg Ayres of Cypress.
Doug Bowers of Laguna Beach won the second division main event and Gary Hicks of Riverside won the third division main.
