Ground was broken Monday for a $6.5-million, 220,000-square-foot manufacturing and office facility at 256 E. Gardena Blvd., Carson, for AHF-Ducommun Inc.
The first increment, 20,000 square feet of office space and 100,000 square feet for manufacturing, is scheduled for completion in October and the rest in about a year.
Ducommun Inc. developed from a Los Angeles store opened in 1849 by Charles Louis Ducommun, and is now a major corporation specializing in supplying high-technology products and proprietary services to the electronic and aerospace industries.
The new facility will be occupied by Aircraft Hydro-Forming Inc., a subsidiary that produces complex metal shapes through stretch-forming, thermal-forming and hydro-forming.
The architect/engineer of the new facility is Coulson & Hoffman of Buena Park and the general contractor is Nova Construction Co. of Carson.
