Expensive B

I’d like to say a few words about the B&Bs; advertised in The Times. They are, for the most part, expensive, with ridiculous, unnecessary frills. If one has to pay the prices I’ve seen quoted, then one might as well stay at a hotel, with one exception--in Europe where the idea originated, one can easily find a clean, sharp little room for the night.
Winsome Jerome (June 23) is right on. It is only here in America where one can demand exorbitant prices from weary, gullible travelers, with the lure of a home-cooked breakfast. Let’s keep the B&Bs; in the proper perspective for which they were originally intended, an inexpensive, clean room, minus the frills.
