Car Used as Battering Ram in Swiss Burglary

ZURICH, Switzerland — Thieves used a car to ram open the door of the Cartier Embassy jewelry store on one of Europe’s most elegant shopping streets early Sunday and drove off with loot worth about $217,000, police said.
The robbers, thought to number at least two, fastened a wooden beam to the trunk of the car so it jutted out about one yard. Then they backed repeatedly into the door, on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse, until it gave way, police said.
