Dinner to Honor Retiring Judge

Friends and former colleagues will salute retiring Culver City Municipal Court Judge Frank W. Troost at 7 tonight at a dinner in the Channel Islands Room of the Marina City Club.
Troost, 69, was appointed to the Culver City court in 1965 by then-Gov. Edmund (Pat) Brown Sr. after 25 years as a private attorney. Friday will be his last day in court.
He was born in Joliet, Ill., and moved to Los Angeles when he was 5.
He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from USC, where he also earned his law degree. He entered private practice in 1939.
During World War II, Troost was an ensign in the United States Coast Guard. He is past president of USC Law Alumni, the Crenshaw Chamber of Commerce, the Southwest Optimist Club, the Southwest Bar Assn., commander of the American Legion Post 715 and has worked with the Crenshaw YMCA.
He is past president of Kappa Sigma Alumni and of Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity Alumni and past vice president of the California Judges Assn.
Troost and his wife, who live in Baldwin Hills, have three children.
