Two employees of a Santa Monica convenience store have been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery in connection with last week’s bludgeoning death of the store’s assistant manager, police said.
The suspects were identified as Anthony Williams, 25, arrested at the store Friday afternoon, and Eli Davis, 30, arrested Saturday after he walked into Santa Monica police headquarters. Both are from Los Angeles, police said.
David Bellet, the 22-year-old assistant manager of the Arco AM-PM Minimarket at 332 W. Pico Blvd., was attacked with a baseball bat on Sept. 16 while he was on his way to the bank to deposit $8,000. He later died of his injuries.
Williams and Davis are being held without bail in Santa Monica jail, police said. Their arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday.
