An Ontario man was convicted Wednesday of murdering a Monrovia woman who was strangled, beaten, stabbed with a screwdriver-like instrument and dumped in a wash.
Clarence Dwight Long, 27, showed no emotion as the San Bernardino County Superior Court jury found him guilty of murdering Mary Catherine Hampton, 35. Sentencing was set for Oct. 22.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Smith described the victim as a former girlfriend of Long, who had threatened to tell police that he was selling cocaine. Her body was found March 2 in Upland.
