Victor Adorian, the long-time director of the county Department of Beaches and Harbors, will retire early next year.
Adorian has been a central figure in disputes between the county and Marina del Rey boaters and tenants, who have requested strict controls on boat slip and apartment rents.
He also handles county operations on about 30 miles of public beach.
The 59-year-old director will be awarded 60% of his annual salary of $77,000, or about $46,000, as part of a so-called “golden handshake” early retirement agreement with the Board of Supervisors.
Ted Reed, assistant chief administrative officer for the county, will replace Adorian.
