Mayor Barbara Doerr appointed Ernie O’Dell, executive director of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce, to the Recreation and Parks Commission. . . . At the request of Councilman Archie Snow, the city staff will investigate the possibility of requiring residents to separate glass, cans and paper from trash for recycling purposes. Snow said he favors voluntary participation in recycling programs but said a mandatory program may be necessary because of low participation. . . . The City Council passed a resolution commending the Police Department for its handling last week of a murder-suicide that left four people dead in a home on Speyer Lane.
