Both sides have rested in the 5-month home repair contract trial in Alameda County of Salvatore Bonanno, son of reputed Mafia boss Joseph Bonanno. The younger Bonanno, 53, is charged with 19 counts of conspiracy and grand theft in connection with a home repair contract business that Deputy State Atty. Gen. Derald Granberg contends bilked nine elderly people out of $110,000 in the 1970s. Bonanno, who spent a month on the witness stand, has denied any participation in a home repair scam, and has accused the prosecution of trying to frame him. The trial before Superior Court Judge Joseph Karesh is recessed until Tuesday, when final arguments are scheduled to begin. Jurors are expected to begin deliberating the trial next week.
