Citicorp’s Earnings Jump 14%

NEW YORK — Citicorp, the nation’s largest banking company, said today that its earnings rose 14% in the third quarter from a year ago, including a 34% gain in its individual banking business.
The company, which is parent of the nation’s second-largest bank, Citibank, said its net income rose to $227 million, or $1.60 a share, for the July-September period from $200 million, or $1.42 a share, a year ago. For the first nine months of the year, Citicorp said its net income rose 20%.
