Sudan Rebels Kill 14 in Ambush of Steamer

KHARTOUM, Sudan — Sudanese rebels killed 14 soldiers and injured a civilian when they ambushed a steamer on the Nile near Melut, about 370 miles south of Khartoum, the official Sudanese news agency said Monday.
The agency, quoting military officials, said the guerrillas used automatic weapons Friday to set fire to the boat and sink it. It said the steamer was carrying petroleum products.
