Armstrong won’t close its Hanford, Calif., plant.

The company rescinded plans to close the tire plant in response to approval by the United Rubber Workers of a cost-cutting plan negotiated by Hanford plant management and URW Local 703 on Oct. 3. Armstrong Tire Co. had announced on Oct. 1 that it would close the plant in April due to high operating costs unique to the facility.
