Soccer Roundup : Cal State Northridge Upends Chapman in CCAA Action, 2-0

The Cal State Northridge soccer team, ranked fifth in Division II, defeated No. 14 Chapman, 2-0, at Northridge Saturday to earn the championship of the California Collegiate Athletic Assn.
The Matador offense succeeded in controlling the ball so well early in the game that Chapman (7-2-1, 10-7-1) couldn’t manage a shot in the first 15 minutes of play.
Forward Frank Cubillos of the Matadors (8-2, 15-3) chipped the first goal in over goalie Ken Taylor’s head at the 15-minute mark. Cubillos later scored at the 46-minute mark from 25 yards out. The goals came on assists by midfielder Mike McAndrew.
In other college soccer action:
University of Nevada Las Vegas 3, Cal State Fullerton 2--The Titans (3-3-1, 9-7-1) were beaten by the No. 6 Rebels (6-0, 15-0-2), despite two goals from midfielder Giulio Gnaulati.
