Trial for Pair Linked to David Kennedy’s Death Set for Jan. 21

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Two bellhops accused of selling cocaine to David Kennedy before he died of a drug overdose will stand trial early next year, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Palm Beach County Circuit Judge John Born set Jan. 21 for the start of the trial of David Dorr and Peter Marchant, who worked at the Brazilian Court Hotel, where the 28-year-old son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was found dead in his room on April 25, 1984.

Dorr, 31, and Marchant, 25, are charged with the sale of cocaine, punishable by up to 15 years in prison, and conspiracy to sell cocaine, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. An autopsy showed that cocaine contributed to Kennedy’s death.
