A Chip Off an Old Chocolate Cookie

“This recipe has made me known for my brownies,” Sharon SooHoo writes of the Blond Chocolate Chip Bars recipe she got from a cousin many years ago. “With a few alterations I was able to come up with one of the best chocolate chip type cookies baked in a pan.”
BLOND CHOCOLATE CHIP BARS
3/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups brown sugar, packed
3 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate pieces
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Melt butter in 2 quart saucepan. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Allow mixture to cool 15 minutes.
Beat eggs into sugar mixture one at a time. Combine flour, baking powder and salt and add to sugar mixture. Stir in chocolate pieces and walnuts.
Spread batter in 18x12-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees 20 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 60 squares.
