Calif. Homes Still Cost the Most

WASHINGTON — California is still the most expensive place in the nation to buy a home, it was reported today, with houses in its largest cities and suburbs selling at the highest median prices in the country in the last year.
With half of the homes in the San Francisco area costing $144,100 or more, the Bay City replaced the Anaheim-Santa Ana metropolitan area at the top of the list, the report by the National Assn. of Realtors said. In the last three months alone, the median resale price went up almost $10,000 in San Francisco, it said.
